Final Essay

Other student`s Blog projects gave me
great opportunity to understand what is going on around the world. Among many
articles, those related to my daily life were selected rather than unfamiliar
articles like war. It’s because concern and commentary about articles can
affects my daily life positively. The first article regarding Finland`s video
game industry comes from Kim Kyung Jae`s Blog project. The second one is from
Won Ji Hye`s Blog project and it is about Chile`s efforts to legalize the
abortion. The last article from Lee Hee Gwan`s Blog project is mentioned about
Printed book`s superiority over E-book in Swiss.
The first article from Kim Kyung Jae`s
Blog project shows that video game industry in Finland is growing rapidly and the
reason why I chose this article is I usually enjoy playing the computer game in
my free time. According to this article, video game industry started to lead
the Finland`s overall industry and still has great potential. Kim Kyung Jae argued
that excessive regulations from Korean government cause slump to the Korean
game industry. But I disagree with it. In my opinion, illegal replica and
negative bias toward the game have damaged to the Korean game industry. At
1990s, Korean game industry was boomed. However, at the same time, companies
were suffered from too much illegal replica of CD and illegal download which
causes the collapse of game industry. In addition, prejudices against game interrupted
the investment to game industry. If Game users had respected the copyrights of
the game, Korean game industry would have prospered a long way.
Secondly, the article concerning
Chile`s movements to decriminalize abortion comes from Won Ji Hye`s Blog project
and it reminded me of the shocking video about abortion. As reported by
article, Chile tried to legalize abortion to protect women`s right through
legislation. Won Ji Hye insisted that decriminalization of abortion should be conducted
for women`s right. However, it can cause several ethical problems and severe
side effects. Therefore, I believe abortion should be banned. Baby in womb is also
valuable life and has a right to live. In other words, abortion is similar to
murder. What is more, dangerous process of abortion causes various side
effects. Even if pregnant women are in emergency, cesarean is much safer way
for them. Hence, I strongly oppose the legalization of abortion.
Lastly, the article from Lee Hui
Gwan`s Blog project is about slump of E-book market in Swiss and I`m interested
in this issue since I received the Amazon Kindle from my cousin. Article mentions
that on the contrary to positive prospect, growth in the E-book industry in
Swiss remained slow. It’s because many people still prefer the paper book which
is familiar and easy to purchase. Lee Hui Gwan believes it is useless concern since
slump of E-book industry is only temporary phenomenon. I totally agree with his
idea because E-book has enormous potential. E-book can supply and store books in
a much cheaper way than paper book. It is possible because E-book stores text
in the form of data, while paper book uses paper and ink as material. Also,
unlike the Paper book which is heavy and easy to break, E-book can store many
books permanently. Additionally, it can be linked with media which can
accelerate the growth of E-book industry. Through the linkage with media such
as video and music, people can feel a more vivid pleasure via E-book. For these
reasons, E-book industry has a bright prospect.
In conclusion, these assignments
broaden my perspectives by looking at daily events from various angles. For
example, Video game industry in Finland reminded me of the side effects of the
illegal download which Korean game users done without any guilty. Also, Chile`s
decriminalization of abortion brings many controversial and ethical issues. Lastly,
concern about e-book industry in Swiss is meaningless as it has many advantages
over paper book. Like this, it can enlarge our knowledge and enrich our life to
read articles from the various parts of the world and listen to what other
people think.
